OCBC Cycle 2023 FAQs

Registration

1. How do I register for OCBC Cycle 2023?

Sign up for OCBC Cycle 2023 here. An email will be sent to you to confirm your registration.

2. When does registration for OCBC Cycle 2023 start and end?

Register for any ride, except the Mighty Savers® Kids Ride, Speedway Championships, Corporate Ride and the Virtual Ride at the launch event and receive discounts and prizes from our partners.
OCBC Cycle 2023 will be launched at 12:00pm on 7 February 2023 at Orchard Gateway. The launch event will end at 8:00pm on 7 February 2023. If you are unable to sign up at the launch event,
you can sign up online from Tuesday, 7 February 2023, at 12:30pm.

Registration will close on Monday, 24 April 2023, at 11:59pm, or when all slots are taken up.

3. What are the ride categories and the registration fees?

To help reduce the production of unwanted materials, you can now choose to sign up without the event apparel if you don’t see a need for them.

The registration fees (without the event apparel) are as follows.

i. The Straits Times 20km City Ride – $55
ii. The Sportive 40km Ride – $95
iii. Speedway Championship (Team) – $320
iv. The 100km Virtual Ride – $15
v. The 500km Virtual Ride – $30
vi. Mighty Savers® Tricycle Ride (2 to 5 years old) – $25
vii. Mighty Savers® Kids Ride (5 to 12 years old) – $37
viii. Mighty Savers® Family Ride (5 to 12 years old) – $72
ix. Spin Ride by CRU – $60
x. Indoor Ride by Shimano – $38

You will receive a medal, CRU TV Access Pass, SG Bike Ride Pass and complimentary insurance coverage by Great Eastern (only for 20km City Ride and Speedway Championships) based on the
above registration fees.

You can purchase the relevant event apparel at the following prices when you register for the event.

4. Does the registration fee include insurance coverage?

The registration fees for The Straits Times 20km City Ride, The Sportive 40km Ride and Speedway Championships, Mighty Savers® Kids and Family Ride includes basic personal accident
insurance coverage for the cyclist’s ride on the respective event day. Cyclists aged between 2 and 75 will enjoy the following insurance coverage:

Please note that there is no complimentary insurance coverage for participants of the Virtual Rides, the Spin Ride by CRU and Indoor Ride by Shimano categories.

You can choose to purchase additional insurance coverage at your own cost during registration (not applicable for Virtual Rides participants).

5. What are the methods of payment for registration?

VISA and MasterCard credit/debit cards, and OCBC Pay Anyone™.

Sign up with your OCBC Card to enjoy 10% off your registration fee. Or be the first 500 to sign up for OCBC Cycle with OCBC Pay Anyone™ to receive $2 in cashback. Registration promotions are
not to be used in conjunction with one another or with other promotions.

6. What are the methods of payment for registration?

OCBC Pay Anyone™ is an application which allows OCBC customers to send money to anyone and make NETS QR purchases up to a daily limit of S$1,000.

7. How do I make payment with OCBC Pay Anyone™?

When using a computer, you will be required to launch the OCBC Pay Anyone™ application and scan the QR code on the payment page. Payment has to be made via the app. Once payment is
through, you will be redirected to the success page on your browser.

When using a mobile device, click on the generated QR code to launch your OCBC Pay Anyone™ application and complete payment. Once payment is through, you will be redirected to the
success page on your browser.

8. Can I take part in more than one ride?

You can sign up to take part in more than one ride. However, you cannot sign up for multiple categories within the Virtual Rides and Speedway Championships.

For example, you can sign up for the The S40km Ride, the 100km Virtual Ride and Speedway Club Championship. However, you cannot concurrently sign up for the 100km Virtual Ride and
500km Virtual Ride.

9. Can I change categories after I complete my registration?

No, you will not be able to switch to another category after you have completed your registration.

10. Do I get a refund if i choose not to participate or am unable to make it on the event day after registering for the event?

Registration fees are non-refundable and non-transferrable.

11. How do I register if I am under the age of 21?

If you are under the age of 21, you will need your parent’s or guardian’s consent. Please complete the indemnity section found on the online registration form.

12. How do I retrieve my registration confirmation slip?

Key in your details here to retrieve your registration confirmation slip.

13. How do I know if my registration was completed?

A confirmation email with a reference code will be sent to the email address you provided during the registration process.

14. I did not receive the confirmation email. What should I do?

The confirmation email was not sent due to one of the following reasons:

i. You might have provided an erroneous email address when registering.
ii. The email might have been treated as a spam email and diverted to your junk box.

If you still do not have the confirmation email after checking, please email us at enquiry@ocbccycle.com and provide us with your:

i. Name
ii. Last 4 characters of your NRIC / Passport Number

We will reply within three working days.

15. Can I change my apparel size after I complete my registration?

You cannot change your event apparel size after you have completed your registration. Please refer to the size chart at the point of registration to choose your preference. Sizes are available on
a first-come, first-served basis.

16. Why are the event apparel not priced into the registration fees for the Physical Rides & Virtual Rides?

Past participants have shared with us that they would like to have an option of signing up for the event without receiving the event apparel.

Hence, to help reduce the production of unwanted materials, you can now choose to sign up for the Physical Ride & Virtual Ride categories without the event apparel if you don’t see a need for
them.

17. How can I collect my event entitlements?

Cyclists can collect their event packs and event apparels at the Event Pack Collection. For those who are unable to collect your event pack, you may authorise another individual to collect on your
behalf.

Event Pack Collection will be held on 5 – 6 May 2023, 10:00am – 9:00pm at OCBC Arena Hall 1, Singapore Sports Hub.

You are required to bring:
i. Confirmation Slip (e-copy)
ii. Your NRIC/Passport

If you are collecting the pack on someone else’s behalf, please bring:
i. Your NRIC/Passport
ii. A copy of the person’s NRIC/Passport (e-copy)
iii. His/her confirmation slip

18. Is there a place where I can store my bicycle before the event?

You can store your bicycle at the bike park in OCBC Arena Hall 1 before your ride at no charge.

5 & 6 May 2023:
The overnight bike storage park opens from 10:00am to 9:00pm.

7 May 2023:
The overnight bike storage park opens from 3:30am to 12:00pm.

While there will be security personnel at the bike park, you are encouraged to secure your bicycle with your own lock.

Storage of your bicycle is at your own risk. The Event Organiser and the Event Owner will not be liable for any loss or damage to your bicycle.

Please cater additional time to get to the start pen as the bike park will be located at OCBC Arena Hall 1.

19. Do I get to win a prize if I finish first in my category?

For safety reasons, all categories except OCBC Cycle Speedway Championship are non-competitive. Hence, there will be no prizes given.

The Straits Times 20km City Ride and The Sportive 40km Ride

20. What is the route for The Straits Times 20km City Ride and The Sportive 40km Ride?

You may view the routes here. The route is subject to authorities’ approval and changes.

21. Do I need a bicycle to join this event?

Yes. If you do not own a bicycle, you can select to rent one from SG Bike during the registration for $15. Rentals are limited to the first 300 SG Bike bicycles. Once you have confirmed your
SG Bike rental, the 3-speed bicycle will be available for collection at the event venue during the event.

Please note that you will need to bring along a helmet with you to ride at the event. The bike rental does not come with a helmet. It is compulsory to wear one during the event.

22. Are bicycle from station free bike-sharing platform allowed for the event?

Yes, however, please do note that most of these bicycles are single-gear bicycles and they may be challenging on some part of the route. Please do note that you are not allowed to abandon your
bicycles along the cycling route.

23. Do I need a helmet to join this event?

You will need a helmet to join this event if you registered for the following categories as it is compulsory to wear one during the event:
i. The Straits Time 20km City Ride
ii. The Sportive 40km Ride
iii. Speedway Championships (Team)
iv. Mighty Savers® Tricycle Ride (2 to 5 years old)
v. Mighty Savers® Kids Ride (5 to 12 years old)
vi. Mighty Saver® Family Ride (5 to 12 years old)

24. Will there be any bag deposit services?

No. Bag deposit services will not be provided.

25. If i miss the flag off time for my category, can I join another category?

You are not allowed to join another category if you miss the flag off time. This is to ensure a smooth road opening process.

You are advised to reach the event site at least 1 hour before the start of the event.

26. Is there a cut-off time for my ride? What happens if I miss it?

Yes. Participants will be diverted if they do not reach certain sections of the route by the stipulated timings. More details regarding the cut-off time and the route diversion plan will be shared
closer to the event.

27. Will I still receive a medal if I miss the cut-off time?

You will still be able to receive the medal at the finishing line if you miss the cut-off time during your ride.

28. What bicycles are allowed at the event?

You can refer to the types of bicycles allowed at the event here.

29. Will bike maintenance services be provided at the event?

Yes. Basic bike maintenance services will be provided at the venue and along the route services will be not provided.

30. Can I get my friend to cycle on my behalf?

No. Registration for OCBC Cycle is non-transferable for safety reasons, ease of identification and contact purposes during an emergency.

31. Will I be able to see my ride timing after the event?

Ride timings will not be provided for The Straits Times 20km City Ride. Only participants riding in The Sportive 40km Ride will have their timings recorded. Timing can be retrieved at
www.ocbccycle.com 3 to 5 days after the event. 

32. Are there any other payment modes?

Please contact us at 6814 0419 between 9:00am to 6:00pm on weekdays, excluding public holidays or email us at enquiry@ocbccycle.com if you wish to make payment by other modes.

Corporate Rides

33. What are the rides that corporates can consider taking part in?

The Corporate Bike Ride

  • A lower registration fee as compared to individual sign-ups.
  • Each company must sign up for a minimum number of 25 places.
  • Event apparel will not be provided – companies are encouraged to wear their corporate-branded apparel.

OCBC Cycle Speedway Corporate Championship

  • A competitive element for companies on 6 May 2023 along Stadium Drive.
  • Companies can pit their timings against other companies and stand to win prizes.
  • Each team must consist of 5 members; a mix of male and female riders is allowed.
  • Event apparel will not be provided – cyclists are encouraged to come in their team jerseys.

OCBC Cycle Corporate Chase

  • Flagging off ahead of the rest of the public field at The Sportive Ride, companies, can pit their timings against other companies and stand to win prizes.
  • Each company will be able to send up to two participating teams.
  • Each team must consist of 4 members; a mix of male and female riders is allowed.
  • Event apparel will not be provided – companies are encouraged to wear their corporate-branded apparel.

34. How do I sign up my company for The Corporate Bike Ride?

You may reserve places for your colleagues by writing in to enquiry@ocbccycle.com. Express your interest between 10 February 2023 to 7 April 2023. Available slots for The Sportive Ride
and The Straits Times Ride up for grab on a first-come, first-served basis.

35. What are the payment modes for The Corporate Bike Ride registration?

You can pay by cheque. Please mail it to the address listed in the e-invoice. Payments must be made within five working days of receiving the e-invoice.

36. I have paid for my company to sign up. If my employees are not able to complete their registration by the closing date, can they still participate?

Your employees will not be eligible to take part if they do not register by the closing date – 24 April 2023, at 11:59pm.

37. Do we get to win any prizes by taking part in the OCBC Cycle Corporate Bike Rides?

If your company takes part in The Corporate Bike Ride category, it will be eligible to compete for the Longest Distance Award.

A trophy will be awarded to the company with the longest distance accumulated by its entire staff that completed the ride in The Corporate Bike Ride. They must not be disqualified for any
reason.

The top 3 teams in the OCBC Cycle Corporate Speedway Championship and OCBC Cycle Corporate Chase will win the following:[JS47] 

  • Champion – S$400 and Champions’ jerseys
  • First Runner-up – S$300
  • Second Runner-up – S$200

The top 4 teams of OCBC Cycle Speedway Corporate Championship will also get to ride exclusively in the Champions Wave of The Sportive 40km Ride on 7 May 2022 local clubs & women clubs
who competed in the OCBC Cycle Speedway Championships.

38. Will you be providing a delivery or bulk collection service for the event packs?

No delivery or bulk collection service will be provided. However, there is a dedicated collection counter for companies taking part in The Corporate Bike Ride at the Event Pack Collection.

Speedway Championships

39. How does the Speedway Championships work?

  • Indicate your interest as a team of five (including 1 reserve) by Monday, 24 April 2023, at 11:59pm to take part in your preferred category.
  • For the race, your team is required to complete 10 laps of the 1km course – first five laps (first pair of riders) and last five laps (next pair of riders).
  • There will be three rounds – qualifying rounds, semi-finals and finals. Depending on the category, different number of teams will proceed to the semi-finals and finals.
  • Ranking of the teams in each round is based on the time taken to complete the course.
  • The time taken by a team to complete the race is deemed to be the average of the times taken by the third and fourth rider to cross the finishing line from the flag-off of the race.
  • A pre-race briefing will be conducted for the participants prior to the event day. Further details will be announced to the team closer to the event day.

40. Who can take part in the Speedway Championships?

Speedway Club Championship: You need to be part of a local cycling club and are residing in Singapore.

Speedway Corporate Championship: You need to be employed by the company that you are representing and are residing in Singapore.

Speedway Women’s Championship: You must be part of a team of all-female riders and are residing in Singapore.

Riders are only allowed to represent one team across all OCBC Cycle Speedway Championship categories.

41. When is the registration for The Speedway Championships?

Registration is from 7 February 2023, at 12:30pm to 24 April 2023, at 11:59pm.

42. What is the route for The Speedway Championships?

You may view the route here. The route is subject to authorities’ approval and changes.

43. Can I represent multiple teams across the various Speedway Championship categories?

No. You can only take part in one category and represent a single team.

44. How many teams can my club/company register for Speedway Club Championship?

Each club/company can only register up to a maximum of two teams with the second team being placed on the waiting list.

45. How many riders do I have to register for each team?

Each team will need to register five riders for the race, including 1 as the reserve rider.

46. Can I change one of my members in my team after I have completed the registration?

Any request for a change in the team members will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Please write to us at cycle.speedway@ocbccycle.com.

47. If I am unable to race during any of the days, can I get my club member / colleague to race on my behalf?

All cyclists must be pre-registered and no replacement is allowed. Failure to comply will result in an immediate disqualification of the team.

48. If I am eliminated, can I ride on other teams?

You can only ride for the team that you registered for. Failure to comply will result in an immediate disqualification of both teams.

49. Can the team have a mix of both female and male riders?

Yes, you can have a mix of female and male riders in your team when you sign up for the Club and Corporate Championships.

50. What are the prizes?

The prizes for each category are:

Champion – $800, Champions’ jerseys and Hydro Flask Bottles
First Runner-up – $600 and Hydro Flask Bottles
Second Runner-up – $400 and Hydro Flask Bottles

Mighty Savers® Kids and Family Ride

51. Can I accompany my child during the Mighty Savers® Kids and Family Ride?

For Mighty Savers® Tricycle Ride (2 – 5 years old)
You, or another adult, will be allowed to accompany the child on foot during the ride at no cost.

For Mighty Savers® Kids and Family Ride (5 – 12 years old)
You can register your child and yourself under the Mighty Saver® Family Ride (5 to 12 years old) category so that you can ride alongside your child.

52. What are the timeslots for Mighty Savers® Kids Family Ride?

There are 3 timeslots for Mighty Savers® Family Ride: 4:40pm, 5:10pm and 5:40pm.

53. What is the route for Mighty Savers® Kids and Family Ride?

Virtual Rides

54. How do Virtual Rides work?

  • Sign up by Friday, 24 April 2023, at 11:59pm to take part in your preferred category.
  • Cycle the distance required over a maximum of four rides, anywhere (indoor/outdoor) from 6 May, 12:00am to 5 June 2023, 12:00pm.
  • Take pictures of the following:
    • Your ride details – date, distance and duration – recorded by a fitness tracker/workout app that you use during your ride(s).
    • A picture of you and your bicycle from your ride(s); this can be taken at any point of your ride(s).
  • You only have one attempt to submit via www.ocbccycle.com by 5 June 2023, 12:00pm to indicate that you have completed your virtual ride.
  • Your login details are your email and reference code submitted during registration.
  • An email will be sent to you to confirm the completion of your ride within seven days after your submission.
  • The event medals will be delivered to you by Monday, 26 June 2023.

55. Can I submit mileage clocked from participating in the other categories, e.g. The Sportive 40km Ride, The Straits Times 20km City Ride, Speedway Championships to count
towards the distance clocked for the virtual ride category?

Yes, mileage clocked from other categories, including The Sportive 40km Ride, The Straits Times 20km City Ride and the Speedway Championships, may count towards the distance clocked for
the Virtual Rides (100km/500km). 

56. What fitness tracking applications/devices can I use?

Any applications or devices that can track the date of ride, distance and ride duration can be used. Some examples of devices or applications that can be used include Garmin wearables/cycling
computers (Forerunner, Fenix, Edge), CycleMeter, Endomondo, MapMyRide, Strava, or native health apps in Android or iOS devices.

57. My application/device does not show the date of ride. What can I do?

You can take a photo of your watch or any device showing the date of ride beside your tracking device which shows your ride details.

58. Do I need a helmet to participate in the virtual ride?

Riding with a helmet, especially when outdoors, is strongly encouraged. It is required by law to wear a helmet when you are cycling on the road. Please abide by traffic regulations and adopt safe
cycling practices when riding outdoors.

59. Are there any specific routes that I have to follow?

There is no specified route for OCBC Cycle 2023 Virtual Ride. However, you can visit the following websites to help you with planning your route:

Spin Ride by CRU

60. How does the Spin Ride by CRU work?

  • Sign up by Monday, 24 April 2023, at 11:59pm to take part in Spin Ride by CRU.
  • Complete three spin sessions with CRU from 6 May to 5 June 2023 to be deemed to have participated in the event.
  • A promo code to redeem the OCBC Cycle Spin Ride by CRU package can be found in the confirmation slip after you complete the registration.
  • Create an account at CRU’s website to redeem the package using the promo code sent to you. If you are an existing CRU customer, simply login to your existing account to redeem the spin sessions.
  • An email will be sent to you to confirm that you have completed three spin sessions with CRU within seven days of your completion of the last session.
  • The event medal will be delivered to you by Monday, 26 June 2023.

61. Where can I complete the Spin Ride by CRU sessions?

There are 2 outlets to choose from:

62. Do I have to be vaccinated to participate?

To be able to cycle in the Spin Ride by CRU sessions, you will need to:

  • Be fully vaccinated, or
  • Have recovered from COVID-19 within the last 180 days, or
  • Be certified as medically ineligible for all COVID-19 vaccines under the National Vaccination Programme.

Please bring along your TraceTogether token/app and your supporting documents as checks will be conducted at the entrance.[PL67] 

63. What can I expect from each session?

You can expect a 50-minutes long indoor rhythmic cycling session that focuses on music, technique, and community. Expect high-intensity, music-driven bouts of cardio and strength training
intervals that keep the heart rate elevated.

64. I’m new to spin classes; can I participate?

The spin sessions are designed for people of all levels. Whether you’re a seasoned rider or new, we encourage you to listen to your body, go at your own pace whenever needed, and stay
hydrated throughout class.

65. What do I need to wear and bring along for Spin Ride by CRU?

Come dressed in comfortable workout gear, grab your water bottle, and pull on a pair of socks. Shoes are not needed as you’re required to wear Shimano cycling shoes that will be provided by
CRU at no cost. If you have your own pair of cycling shoes, you’re welcome to bring them – bikes at CRU studios are compatible with SPD-SL cleats. Small towels are provided on every bike for you
to towel down sweat.

Indoor Cycling by Shimano

66. How does the Indoor Cycling by Shimano work?

  • Participants have to attend the qualifier session that they have chosen at the point of registration which will be held at Shimano Cycling World between 22 April to 23 April and 29 April and 30 April 2023, 10:00am to 8:00pm.
  • Participants will be required to clock the longest distance within 10 minutes.
  • The top 18 rider will proceed to the Finals.
  • Top 18 rider will compete in a race of approximately 10km where they will be separated into 3 rounds of 6 participants each
  • Top 2 of each round will proceed to compete in a Grand Final where 3 winners will be determined.

67. Do I have to be vaccinated to participate?

To be able to cycle in the Indoor Cycling by Shimano, you will need to:

  • Be fully vaccinated, or
  • Have recovered from COVID-19 within the last 180 days, or
  • Be certified as medically ineligible for all COVID-19 vaccines under the National Vaccination Programme.

Please bring along your TraceTogether token/app and your supporting documents as checks will be conducted at the entrance.

68. Where is the location for Indoor Cycling by Shimano?

69. Can I change my date/time slot after I have completed the registration?

No, you will not be allowed to change the time slot after completing registration.

70. Can I use my own bike?

Only Shimano bikes can be used. Availability of bikes with varying sizes are on a first-come-first-served basis.

71. What do I need to wear and bring along for Indoor Cycling by Shimano?

Come dressed in comfortable workout gear, grab your water bottle, and pull on a pair of socks. Shoes are not needed as you’re required to wear Shimano cycling shoes that will be provided by
Shimano at no cost. If you have your own pair of cycling shoes, you’re welcome to bring them – bikes at Shimano Cycling World are compatible with SPD-SL cleats. Small towels are provided on
